As a doctoral student, Yasmeen has taught classes in rhetoric, composition, and writing; and English literature.

She is proud to have received consistently strong feedback from her students across these courses. Student evaluations repeatedly highlight her clarity, accessibility, thoughtful feedback, and commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment. Students have also particularly emphasized the ways her teaching helped them become more confident readers and writers while encouraging them to develop their own intellectual interests.

“I came out of this class a better writer.”
“She makes class fun while making it a learning experience.”
“She was the reason this class was so engaging.” “She made the course interesting.”
“I felt I contributed to the conversation, not for my participation grade.”

Yasmeen’s student feedback reflects the seriousness with which she approaches teaching: as an opportunity to cultivate curiosity, confidence, and critical thought. She works to create classrooms where students feel supported enough to take intellectual risks– to ask difficult questions, make mistakes, change their minds, and pursue ideas beyond the expected. At the same time, she encourages students to take one another seriously, building a collaborative environment in which thought develops through conversation.
Her goal is not simply to teach students what to think, but to create the conditions in which they can become more daring, rigorous, and attentive thinkers.
