Her research examines how Palestinian and Lebanese literature registers the relationship between space, subjectivity, and history. Her work lies at the intersection of postcolonial studies, psychoanalysis, phenomenology, and Marxist theories of subjectivity.
Bringing together post-Nakba Palestinian literature and post-Civil War Lebanese literature, Yasmeen considers how historical relations of war, violence, and occupation shape forms of subjectivity. At the heart of this work are questions of space and spatiality, and the ways in which historical and material conditions become lived and perceptible.
Alongside her scholarship Yasmeen has worked as a writer, educator, and editor, with a broader interest in the ways literature and knowledge are interpreted, taught, revised, circulated, and made available to readers.
Yasmeen welcomes inquiries regarding collaborative research and writing, conference panels and presentations, workshops, and other forms of scholarly exchange.
